Houston has one of the largest medical centers and number of health care providers in the world. Known as both the Texas Medical Center and the Houston Medical Center, the area is home to the nation’s top hospitals. It is also home to a variety of biotechnology institutions that provide research, care, education, healing and science research services to individuals across the country.

The Texas Medical Center reported that it currently employs over 4,000 physicians, 11,000 registered nurses and 73,600 employees. It has 27 million square feet of physical plant space with another 12 million square feet under active construction to be completed by 2009. The number of men and women working at the Center is expected to grow by 30% within the next five years.

The tremendous immediate growth within the Medical Center alone is calling for more developments of housing, particularly upscale residence communities, such as The Modigliani.
